Stencils: The Smaller Competitor and October Surprise

The Stencils festival is a three day event hosted by Boston's Strange Trace. Throughout the festival six micro operas by an international team of composers and librettists will be premiered. All six operas were written and filmed in isolation, exploiting the limits of technology.

About the Event

The Smaller Competitor, music and libretto by Anthony Green, is part of a series of works that Green calls "corporate cabarets." In  The Smaller Competitor we see the effects of a giant department  store - Flo Mart - opening in a small town, set against the backdrop of  Green's cabaret-style score. Directed by Erin Matthews

October Surprise, music and libretto by Greg Nahanbedian,  presents a Home Shopping Network style TV show for conspiracy theories.  Learn about alien abductions, 5G, and how birds aren't real. Directed by  Neil Parsons
