Opera at Florham Presents “An Operatic Holiday”

“Buon Natale with Maria Natale!” Operatic superstar soprano Maria

Natale and acclaimed pianist Mary Pinto perform seasonal holiday

classics and operatic selections on December 13, 2020 at 3 p.m. After

receiving 46,000 views of their recent Sparrow LIVE recital, they are

excited to reunite for the Opera at Florham audience. Guest Matthew

Ciuffitelli adds his rich baritone voice to the program.

Marie Natale, soprano, was praised by The New York Times for her “plummy, penetrating  voice,” and is the recipient of multiple awards and grants from some of the most prestigious  vocal competitions nationwide, including the Opera at Florham Vocal Competition. Of her  portrayal of Violetta in La Traviata at Opera Maine, Opera News claimed, “her powerful soprano  easily filled the house,” and Florida’s New Outpost hailed her as having an “unequivocal Italian  sound.” Ms. Natale has been featured at Carnegie Hall in Faure’s "Requiem" and Mozart’s  Missa Solemnis. In 2015 she was selected by the Metropolitan Opera Guild to sing with Placido  Domingo in a Masterclass at Lincoln Center.

Matthew Ciuffitelli, baritone. Brooklyn Discovery raved, “Matthew Ciuffitelli has resonance and  power,” qualities in evidence when he appeared as Dr. Malatesta in Don Pasquale, Sergeant  Belcore in L’Elisir d’Amore, the Sacristan in Tosca with Eastern Opera, Papageno in Nyack,  Eisenstein in Amore Opera’s Die Fledermaus, and Prince Yamadori in New Jersey Festival  Orchestra’s Madama Butterfly. Recently, Mr. Ciuffitelli appeared as a featured solo artist with  the renowned Sharpe Family Singers in an extensive Broadway concert tour throughout Ireland  and France. Visit him on social media as “The Opera Guy,” giving his operatic interpretation to  current songs.

Mary Pinto, Opera at Florham’s Artistic Director, is an acclaimed accompanist and vocal  coach who has worked with international opera singers and major American opera companies  for over 25 years. Locally, she has performed with the New Jersey State Opera and Light Opera  of New Jersey, and her international performances include Opera Noire’s Ensemble in Moscow  and St. Petersburg. In summer, she can be found coaching for the Westchester Summer Vocal  Institute in Rye, New York and Masterclass d'Ischia in Ischia, Italy. In September 2020, Ms.  Pinto performed at Black Opera’s tribute honoring the 75th Birthday of Jessye Norman. In  October she began mentoring and coaching at the Atelier d’Excellence Italian program. She is a  private coach and accompanist at Montclair State University and at her studios in New Jersey  and New York City.
